Outdoor Lighting [Back To Article List]

Setting the Mood

++++ Updating the outside lighting system around a home is about more than just aesthetics, it can increase safety for the family. "In Minnesota we have a lot more darker than lighter hours," said Marcia Von Wald, lighting specialist with Bright Ideas of Rochester. "Lighting up to and around the house is important for security reasons."
++++ VonWald said that while outdoor lighting options don't change much from year to year, the quantity of people using them does. "Mood lighting is seeing a resurgence," she explained. "You put lights up in a tree to shine down on the yard. It sets a great mood."
++++ Expanding the lighting around a house can be a matter of hours (installing low-voltage lighting requires a simple, shallow burying of the cables), through months to thoroughly plan and design your outdoor lighting in conjunction with landscaping.
